Life Sciences
On the Leading Edge
Our team has defined Life Sciences as Anything related to research and development in pharmaceutical/medical-related engineering fields corresponding to drug development and gene therapy, but also expanding into agricultural research. It is an “umbrella term” to signal a project geared towards research and development.
While there has been a recent uptick in demand for life sciences projects due to COVID-19, the market has been active for years. Our team has 15+ years of experience working in the AE environment, where project managers have worked side-by-side with lab planners and life sciences-focused architects.
Creating a cohesive project team where all disciplines are engaged in the process and fully integrated ensures no “gaps” in conversations or processes.
Each life sciences project has its challenges. Our experience overcoming these challenges allows us to streamline the design, eliminating unnecessary limitations or extra costs. The speed of construction, especially on the manufacturing side, can be demanding. While we can’t produce final drawings at the early stages of the design process, we provide reliable progress drawings for onboarding trade contractors. Our engagement enables rapid response to pricing inquiries, RFI’s, and submittal review.
Advances in science and technology and record levels of investment have brought life sciences to the forefront of more than just the healthcare community. It is unlike any other market sector. Through career-developing projects and the challenges of adaptability, problem-solving, creativity, and flexibility, we continue to flex and increase our structural engineering expertise.
